The Rox ended the regular season last weekend with league wins over Madison and Dumont. The two wins gave the Rox a 10-1 league record (12-3 overall) and secured them the #1 seed for the Region 9C tournament.
On Saturday, July 14th, the Rox travelled to Madison to take on the Mallards in a league matchup. The Rox would come away with a 5-3 victory in a well played game by both teams. Tony Schake took the W on the mound, going 7.2 innings and giving up 3 runs. Chris Fellows would finish the game and get the Save. Leading hitters for the Rox were Nate Treinen with 3 hits and Joe Fuller with 2. Fuller would also lead the way with 4 RBI, including a 2-Run Homerun in the 7th inning.
On Sunday, July 15th, the Rox headed North to take on the Dumont Saints in their regular season finale. The game would end in 10 innings, with the Rox coming away with the victory, 5-4. Dumont got off to a quick start, hitting a 3-Run Homerun in the 1st inning before the Rox could even record an out. The game would remain 3-0 until the 8th inning when the Rox plated a pair of runs to make it 3-2 heading in to the 9th. With the game on the line, the Rox pushed home the tying run to take the game to extra innings. In the 10th, the Rox would score 2 more and hold the Saints to 1, giving the Rox the 5-4 Win. Riley Sammon started on the mound for the Rox, pitching 4 innings and giving up only the 3 first inning runs. Joe Fuller would come in relief to steal the W, going 5.1 innings and giving up 1 run. Chris Fellows came in with 1 out in the 10th and runners on second and third base. He got the Rox out of the jam and earned the Save. Leading hitters on the day were the Treinen brothers, Nate and Andrew, with 3 and 2 hits respectively. Chance Haugen also added 2 hits, both of them doubles.
Next up: The Rox will be the #1 seed in the Region 9C tournament which will be played over 3 weekends, July 28 & 29, August 4 & 5, and August 11 & 12. Location and times of the games are TBD.
